What's fresh and new in the life and work of Seska Lee.Week of August 4th, 2008I am feeling much better. Friday was extremely very rough. Yes, it was that rough - extremely and very. Saturday had a queasy start and then a reasonable finish. It was a long day for sure, but I was able to eat and well, I was not running to the porta-potties (thank goodness). The Shazamfest was a whole lot of fun. It rained, that is for sure, and the turn out was pour because of it, but I had a great time doing burlesque in the middle of a farmer’s filed. The stage was great. The food amazing. The people generous, positive and fun. I definitely want to go again next year except stay for the whole weekend. Yesterday, Joe came by. He was in town for the weekend. We went out for lunch and then rented a movie (21 – good, entertaining, predictable). In the evening James and I went for a walk. I have been slowly cleaning up the apartment and getting rid of things we no longer use. We put out two bags of old magazines and then brought a bag of shoes and a small bag of clothes to the Salvation Army depot. This is the kind of elimination I enjoy. (Sorry, but when you get sick like this you got to have a sense of humour – grin). Live
Show Today! Seska : Today Writing : I am working on a members-only journal entry about why I wear stockings during my webcam shows. Inquiring minds want to know. Reading : Hobo Stripper’s Guide to Stripping series. I have never been a stripclub stripper, but if I ever was going to dip my toe into that pool I’d memorize her words. Watching : The Green Mile – actually it was last night. It was on the History Channel. James and I watched it together. We teared up of course. I like this movie a lot. I have been spending too much time on the computer these past two days. My eyes are red though not very sore. Just a little tired, I guess. I have been busy working on a revamped version of Seskuality : Real Sex by Seska – my sex news, advice and education website. I was finding it a bit overwhelming to update. I had too many categories and so much research and not not enough time and mental energy to bring it all together. Now with the simpler format I think it will be much easier. I also made some changes to the code as I have been enjoying working with CSS for my website client projects. I figured if I was going to re-organize the website I might as well change the code to incorporate the CSS. It is a nifty thing. I hope to be able to do much the same for Seska 4 lovers and my amateur xxx page as well. But that will be in the fall as they are both much bigger websites – especially Seska Dot Com. It has just tonnes of pages. Of course, the redesign for that website is also a little more tricky as it is a joint project between James and me. We get along very well, but have very different working and decision-making styles. I have a draft that is waiting for his feedback. We will see. Maybe in 2008? <grin> Now I am off to give my eyes a break. Breakfast will be followed by a cardio workout and then some yoga. Afterwards, I am meeting with my friend Rita and then later with a photographer I am working with for my website clients. A busy day for sure, but it will give my eyes a break. Week of August 11th, 2008This weekend was my first full weekend in months without a work or personal. Slightly shocking. I tend to think I have all this free time but the reality is that I am committed to doing something most every day of the week. While I do make my own hours to a certain degree and have some flexibility with my schedule (no 9 to 5 work schedule for me), I still am completely booked most days of the week. I take on so many things because I like to stay busy and I have trouble saying no (don’t want to miss an opportunity). I have been thinking about this for some time and finally have set in motion a plan to be more efficient with my time, to only work on the projects I am 100% interested in, and to set aside some time to recharge and relax. As much as I enjoy being busy and get excited working on new projects, I do need to take some time for myself. I need to stop to smell the flowers and look at the stars. This week has a few things set. On top of my website work (mine and for clients I have a date tonight, my webcam show tomorrow, a series of meetings on Wednesday, a doctor’s appointment on Thursday, and a burlesque performance on Friday. However, I have also said no to one new project, attending an art exposition, and two rehearsals. This is an improvement. We will see how it goes in the coming weeks. Live Show Today! Yesterday was a busy bee kind of day. I worked for many hours on a new costume for a burlesque number. It is a number I have done a few times before. One I like a lot. But I have never had the perfect bra and panty set for it. I usually wear my pink sequined frou frou dress which I adore but with non-matching bra and panties underneath. Well, that will change from Friday on as I have sewed (and sewed and sewed and sewed – Cinderella had those magical mice – I want me some of them) some special beaded pieces onto an old pink bra and panty set that I no longer we. It was my priciest set – well, at least $180. It lost some of its elasticity in recent months, but I did get lots of wear out if it over the years and now it wills tick around a little longer as a costume. In the evening, after my webcam show, I went to a friend’s birthday party and show. I had a great time. I enjoyed the performances, talked with some friends and relaxed. I shot a little videoblog in the ladies room while I was flyering for Friday night’s show. I debuted my zombie dress. Loads of fun. I have been listening through out the summer and it has been extremely informative and interesting. Take a listen to Why Porn? Week of August 18th, 2008Another easy-going weekend for me. Friday night was a late night though. The Team Burlesque performances were successful. The venue was an intimate one but I think the audience enjoyed themselves and that was key for me. I was worried that the people would have difficulty seeing us. Afterwards I celebrated (a little too hard – lesson learned) and then spent most of Saturday sleeping in. In the evening James and I watched the film American Gangster. On Sunday we went to the park, ate some vegetarian sandwiches from KFC (being able to eat something from there was pretty darn freaky) and then went home, watched some Olympic events on television before getting a little physical ourselves by going for our runs. I have decided to get back into running training mode. My dream goal is to run a marathon when I am 40. I haven’t been serious about my running since the half marathon so I am starting with some conditioning running and building my base. I will aim for doing some 10k races in the spring and a half marathon in the fall before moving onto the marathon training in the winter of 2009. I think this doable but it will require a serious time commitment on my part. But building slowly should make this dream goal of mien attainable. your thoughts | semi permalink Webcam Show - Special Time Today’s webcam show is at 3pm Eastern because James and I have dinner reservations for tonight. your thoughts | semi permalink I wish I could say the title of this entry was a reference to something cool I did, but alas, it is sick in the traditional sense. I have a cold. It is not a flu. It is a cold. That does not mean it doesn’t suck though. My head is stuffed up. I have a bit of sinus congestion. My nose is like a leaky faucet. I have taken some over the counter medicine along with some Echinacea and vitamin C. I normally like to take some zinc lozenges, but I forgot to buy some during my trip to the pharmacy. Oh well. I am doing the best I can with what I’ve got: rest, plenty of fluids, soup, plenty of vegetables, and green tea. Oh, and surfing the net with a sweet lady cat on my lap. That does wonders, I tell you. Week of August 25th, 2008This morning I did some dishes. Normally, James in charge but I decided to do them. He is lying out on the futon looking miserable. He caught a cold, my cold. It is the least I can do. There is something so relaxing, so meditative about doing dishes in a warm soapy sink of water. I don’t have a good view out my window. It is a brick wall and a fire escape. I can kind of see into the apartment across the way, but I don’t really look into it anymore. Not sure why, but I just don’t. I just focus on the metal and the brick. Oh, and a baking pan that has been out there for at least 4 years. It is rusted. Not sure who left it. Maybe it was a tenant that has since moved? Maybe that is why the current one won’t bring it in and throw it away properly. It is not theirs so they don’t take responsibility for it. ‘I didn’t make the mess so I won’t clean it up.’ On my window still sits a small geranium I got as a gift at wedding. I have been watering it frequently. I thought it would die soon after I brought it home, but it seems to be doing well. I hope it is getting the right amount of sun it needs. I am not good with plants. After Mr. Catamanga died my friend got me a plant. It did well for a while. I watered it and made sure it got to see its fair share of sunshine. Then my friend gave me another plant. It needed more care. I suppose my friend thought since I had been doing well with the first plant that I was ready for a trickier one. I struggled to keep it healthy. I did some research but it was still a bit of a mystery to me. Then I went away for a business trip and I left the care of my plants to James. He forgot about them. He sometimes lives in his own little world about things and forgets things like plants or tell me that someone called. Anyway, I came home to some suffering foliage at the point of no return. Scary what can happen in a week. Webcam Show Postponed James has caught my cold. While I am not feeling hard like he is (that was me early last weekend) I am extremely tried and I don’t think that we have enough energy or focus for a show tonight. Hopefully, by tomorrow things will be better – at least for me anyway. I went to bed last night at 8pm. I had an appointment in the AM and it took all of my energy. Very wise idea to postpone the webcam show. Very wise. See you tonight! Live Show Today! I went for a walk yesterday and today I went to the gym (30 moderate minutes on the elliptical trainer followed by 20 minutes of strength training). My energy levels are still a bit depleted as compared to normal, but with little rests here and there I am getting back to my normal schedule of activities and being productive again. I have some web design work to do for some clients and a meeting this afternoon. I just took a nap so that will help me get out of the house and feel like less of a slob. - Early this afternoon I also finished cleaning the bathroom (from top to bottom). Our upstairs neighbour had a leak, which made a bit of a mess in our bathroom. This was right when I got my cold. I had to remove everything from the bathroom, put buckets and towels in spots and then do a major clean up afterward. Normally, this would be done in a timely manner but with the cold I had to do it in spurts. Today I finally finished the job by scrubbing the bathtub and putting up new shower curtains. I sure feel like I accomplished something! - I am off for the weekend. I will be going on my annual cottage weekend with Joe and his friends. I am so pleased because we are supposed to have sunny skies and warm weather. The lake might a be a bit chilly of course, but I am not going to let that stop me. I have not gotten any swimming done this summer and I will get in that water no matter what. I skinny dip every summer and this being my only opportunity I must take advantage of it. |
